About

“To forget how to dig the earth and to tend the soil is to forget ourselves.”

 – Mahatma Ghandi

Well here I am. I went to Michigan State University to become a veterinarian and, instead, became an English teacher. I love to write, but I also love to garden, raise bees, tend the chickens, and philosophize about the world and the current state of education. I have a minor in sociology and I love to study people. I love to talk to people and I love to read about trends and data in the choices we make the and things we do. I also love to cook because I love to eat. I like to try new foods and create meals that make people interested in foods they had never been interested before.

And, therefore, I needed to blog.

I needed a place to write about these things and to post pictures. I wanted to contribute something to social media and the world around me that wasn’t a meme, a forward, or tweet. I wanted to contribute substance.

So my goal in keeping this blog is just that: to contribute substance.
